Commonly most of us fail to see the many local visitor attractions but they are commonly brilliant and much better than persons we see elsewhere. People living in the British Isles have a mindblowing list of vacation destinations all of which have a massive collection of top class visitor attractions to visit. In the following article I discuss the English city of York and York lodge accommodation.

The city of York is located in Yorkshire (an English county) and was, a long time ago, the capital of a huge kingdom copy to most of the north of England. With such an ancient city you will not be surprised to find out a massive selection of extremely medieval buildings, but you may not expect the astounding sight of the Gothic masterpiece of York Minster.

The first York Minster was a humble wooden church in which King Edwin of Northumbria was, in the 7th century, baptised. It wasn’t in anticipation of the time of the Norman Conquest that the earliest substantial stone building appeared on the site. Built by Thomas of Bayeux, a Norman Archbishop it was extended by Archbishop Roger who added a north and south transept. After many more additions and alterations the cathedral was complete and set apart in 1472. Surrounded by features the the world’s largest medieval blemished glass window. York has many other places to visit including; Barley Hall, the Jorvik Viking Centre, the National Railway Museum, the Roman Bath Museum and Fairfax House.

On top of all of the incredible ancient and historic visitor attractions mentioned above, York is a superb place in which to have fun the night away or experience live music. It that doesn’t thrill you then alternatively you could waste the evening in a pub here are certainly masses to choose from, to name but a few; The Royal Oak, The Golden Slipper, Slug and Lettuce, the Ancient Star Inn and The Bluebell Inn, and, lastly, the Black Swan. Out of all the mentioned pubs the Black Swan is most probably the finest with an incredible atmosphere and sometimes featuring live music.

Lodge Accommodation In York

Like many other UK cities you will find out a massive selection of bed and breakfast accommodation in York ranging from cheap guest houses to five star hotels. The Middlethorpe Hall lodge is a mere two miles from the city centre but provides brilliant bed and breakfast with it’s own private gardens, steam room, gym and sauna, and it is also possible to get a massage. Other top York hotels include; Burn Hall Lodge , Marriott on Tadcaster Road, Parsonage Country House Lodge and Bishops at 135 Holgate Road and one of the best guest houses is Crossways on Wigginto Road, or if you are in need of a touch different why not investigate Marmadukes Boutique Lodge .
